White ink on black paper, this series grew alongside Primes as an evolution from Entanglements. While some are abstract shapes that explore contrast and dimension, others are personal ruminations that are part memory and part asemic journal. The markmaking combines line groupings, stippling, some cross marks, and outlining. The Reversals resemble x-rays, often with a ghostly character. (more…)
While making these works, I started to pay attention more carefully to naming the works as a way to communicate what I was thinking of when creating them. Under the hood is a lot of reconsideration for myself of events that happened during childhood and adolescence. The scale of these works is smaller than most of my other series, with the largest works around 12 x 18” and the and smaller ones at 6 x 6”.
